How much do you direct the process of your own learning? At the Redmond Proficiency Academy, we believe the answer to that question determines a student’s commitment to his or her own learning. Truly personalized learning requires reorganizing the school to start with the student, not the subject matter, courses, schedules, etc. If you have ever felt that your education is lacking or that school should be something different for you, the Redmond Proficiency Academy is the place where you can make school into what you believe it should be.
The Redmond Proficiency Academy seeks motivated students who desire to pursue their education using a personalized approach to the design and development of their curriculum. RPA students take ownership of their learning and develop their skills by working with teachers to explore curriculum aligned to state, national, and industry standards, as well as a variety of interest-based courses in subjects like medicine, law, education, art, business, cosmetology, and music. Courses are designed to meet each student’s individual interests.
Students choose to attend RPA for a variety of reasons, including: college preparatory education, self-paced learning, a desire for academic acceleration, flexible time schedule, interest-based courses, online courses, and our rigorous learning institutes.
All students who attend RPA will be required to meet with a licensed teacher to develop an educational plan. The educational plan will be updated on an annual basis or as often as the student and parents desire. In the interest of preparing all students for college, freshmen and sophomore students are required to take the PSAT and create an online portfolio using the CollegeBoard’s My College Quickstart program. All juniors and seniors are required to take the SAT or ACT a minimum of once per year and seniors are required to complete the FAFSA and at least two college applications. All fees incurred by these requirements are paid for by RPA.
As an Oregon public charter school we are required by law to give enrollment preference to students residing in the Redmond School District. If space allows we can enroll students, up to 50% of our student population, from out of district. If more students apply each year than our cap allows, students will be admitted by a random lottery system as defined by state law.
We thank you for your interest in the Redmond Proficiency Academy and look forward to serving your educational needs. Please take some time to browse our website and ask questions using the contact form or give us a call. We are always happy to talk with you about education and how we can meet your expectations.
We invite you to visit Redmond Proficiency Academy at any time during the school day.
Once you apply and are accepted to the RPA, an adviser will contact you for an intake meeting. Parents are required to attend the intake meeting to assist with the development of each student’s Personalized Education Plan.
Open enrollment for the 2010-2011 is closed. If you would like to register for the waiting list, please complete the application above.
Parents will have two options for registration.
1. Register online by visiting the application link above; or

The enrollment cap for the first year of operation is 150 students, set by the Redmond School District Board of Directors. The enrollment cap for the 2010-2011 school year will increase to 250. If during the registration period the enrollment cap has not been reached, all students who have registered will be admitted and subsequent students will be admitted on a first come, first served basis following all state guidelines related to Charter school enrollment. If more than the enrollment cap register a random lottery will be held to determine the students who will be admitted. The remaining students will placed on a waiting list based on order drawn. While enrollment to RPA is open to students outside the district boundaries, the law requires priority to be given to students living within the boundaries of the Redmond School District, with non-resident students being enrolled as space allows.
Once a student is admitted, the student and parents will receive a letter of acceptance with a date and time to go through the enrollment process. At the enrollment meeting a mentor teacher will meet with the student and parents to formally enroll the student and create a personalized education plan. If the student has attended a prior high school he or she will need to bring in an updated copy of his or her high school transcript to assist with the planning process.
